I've touched down back in the big smoker that is London and hot off surfing like a wildcat for the last few months, I have been carefully structuring a highly specific and bespoke surfing fitness workout, following on from the successful Shred Ready: Snow Fitness sessions of last year. As the European summer surf season will soon be kicking off, whether or not you've been braving the baltic British seas and making the most of the winter swell, and whether you're a seasoned or novice surfer who spends plenty or not quite enough time in the water (like some of us land-locked surfers!), Shred Ready: Surf Fit is a bespoke workout that will improve your stamina and conditioning with highly targeted movements that work to boost your performance and ultimately enjoyment in the water.
Read MoreIt can be tricky to maintain your fitness if you're on the road, whether you're travelling for business, backpacking on the road, or enjoying a shorter holiday away. Fear not dear readers, for I've whipped together this fast and effective workout you can blast out from your own hotel or hostel room - not every spot you're staying, especially if you're travelling on a budget without access to your normal swish gym at home, has gym facilities. All you need is your own fine self, a bed, a bag, a pair of socks, and a wall!
Read MoreSo guys, I've emerged on the other side after a wildly righteous couple of months on the road and off the road in Latin America. Leavin' a little piece of my heart, my favourite shades and a whole heap of new friends, I've been piecing together the travel whirlwind that's been Latin America. Here's a run-down of what's been going down and a video high-light reel including bull-riding (a real taste of Costa Rican culture), a rosé ridden fishing and surf trip where we caught fresh tuna for a fish taco feast, and a balls-to-the-wall, high speed boat ride through the San Blas Islands in Panama to Colombia.
Read MoreThere's nothing like hustlin'/crowbarring a group of friends together for a workout. Training solo can sometimes get a little dry, and pulling together a homie or 2 for a group training session isn't just fun as heck, but can push you harder, as your amigos spur you on that extra bit.
Read MoreJust before I upped sticks and left the Big Smoker that is London for my travels, I spent the day with the awesome teams at Cooler Magazine and Mpora, filming a free session of my Shred Ready Snow workout. If you didn't have the chance to come to one of my snow-specific pop-up fitness classes I held in the autumn of last year, here is a FREE half-an hour instructional video class, tailored specifically to get you fit for any forthcoming ski or snowboard trips you have booked this year.
Read MoreSince landing across the pond Latin-side I have been elbows deep gorging on a medley of quite frankly stupidly delicious meals and treats, getting my munch on and more than once (ahem) drownin' in the zestiest, saltiest, god damn zangiest Margaritas around.
Read MoreAfter a solid week out the mobile zone whilst I was off exploring the other-worldly islands of San Blas in Panama with the Kuna tribe (video to follow soon y'all!), fuelled by tasos of delicious Colombian coffee in Cartagena I have now finished the Costa Rica leg video edit for your viewin' pleasure!
Read MoreSo now the final remnants of the Christmas overload of mince pies, boozin', lashings of turkey and enough choccy to sink a ship should have petered out, it's pretty normal to feel like you've over indulged and your jeans are a tad (ahem) bit toit! Dudes, no worries, over the next few months I'll be bringing you a full series of video workouts from a remote and wild locations that you can follow wherever you're at in the world. Focussing on boosting strength, stripping fat and getting your energy and stoke levels high, I'll be releasing them on Mad To Live regularly, so stay tuned!
Read MoreLast week I was invited by the awesome folk at Nike to check out their new women's concept store on West London's Kings Road for a bespoke running shoe and bra fitting to kit me out ready for my upcoming trip to a central and South America, Australia and Bali. This adventure is gonna see me trekking ancient mountains, hiking Colombian hills, tearing up the Bolivian jungle, surfing (no kicks needed there though ;) )teaching beach fitness and running around like the hyperactive monkey I am so if there's one piece of kit in my arsenal that's got to stand the test, it's my fitness kicks.
Read MoreThe final chapter of bespoke winter training programme Shred Ready: Snow Fitness culminated with a bang this week at the Quiksilver and Roxy showroom in East London's Shoreditch.
Naturally, the conclusion to the ski & snowboard specific fitness session took on a festive hue what with ol' papa Claus making his appearance in a few weeks. With participants from previous sessions and new in attendance, a sweat-storm of a workout ensued, pushing everyone to their limits with a mashup of power, strength, endurance and agility developing movements including one legged burpees (yowch), explosive tuck-360 jumps, pairs work wheelbarrow squat and presses, and clap press ups.
Read MoreSome four years ago the now defunct Nike 6.0 assembled the veritable who's who of women's surfing including current (3x) World Champion Carissa Moore, Malia Manuel, Lakey Peterson and Laura Enever into an all-star surf team. Hot on the heels of the team formation came Leave A Message, the Jason Kenworthy directed all-girl shred flick which blew a multitude of minds and heralded the nu-wave of all-ripping, balls-to-the wall charging, aerial specialist girl surfers.
Read MoreA few weeks back my crew and I packed our bags and hot-tailed it over to Asturias in Northern Spain in search of waves and warm autumn wanderings. I love to check out new spots, land in new airports, sample the different, so jumped at the prospect of a last-minute trip to a part of Spain I hadn't yet been to.
The raw beauty of Asturias was evident from the get-go, the landscape boasting a near Jurassic Park rugged wildness to it. Think endless lush green hills, verdant forests packed thick with trees, exposed stone faces and rich, warm earth. We headed straight to our lodgings for the first part of our trip, the Alamar Surf House in Salinas, run by the smiling & super-welcoming Caco & crew. A colonial-style house facing the beachbreak of Salinas, Alamar makes you feel at home straight away, with invitations to hostel dinners, the offer of board hire and heaps of tips on the local spots readily given.

Read MoreSome months ago an impromptu meeting was called, drawing together an altogether awesome assortment of many of the women I have been fortunate to work, shred, play or collaborate with since I have been riding and working within the action sports/sports world some 10 years. Lead instigator, the irrepressible Hannah Bailey, a supremely brilliant soul who has amongst other ventures in her time worked for Roxy, is the PR Manager for DC, founder of her own PR business Neon Stash, and tireless lover and champion and of creative discovery and women's action sports.

In my remit as a project manager, the Workshop has been a huge part of my professional and personal life this year. Yup, it’s been blood, sweat and tears, and straight up awesome.

Read MoreI’m finding it hard to believe that it’s already two years since I embarked upon and somehow finished a totalllyyyyy mellow (NAAAAT) 450km bike ride to Paris from London. I think my butt has just about recovered, and with shots of the trip popping up on my Timehop, it brought back all the memories of sun-scorched quads, sweaty hill climbs, endless croissants, tears, tape, tools & toasts at the finish line at the Arc de Triomphe and a hobble home on the Euro Star.
