TIPS FOR ADVENTURING IN THE COLD
As the days shorten and cool, the fresh tingle of Autumn in the air, don't think that stops a bunch of rabid adventure fiends from heading outside exploring! Check out some of @madtoliveretreats top tips to stay warm and stoked even when the mercury drops 🍁🍁🍁🍁
✨Kit check: whilst in the summer you can often get away with minimal layers or kit, layers and tech become your best bud in the colder seasons. Lay out your kit the night before, and if you're out on foot think about laters and breathable fabrics, waterproof materials and easily packable parts. Innovation is incredible now and our fav brands including @thenorthfaceuk @berghausofficial boast brilliant lasting pieces.
Heading to the water? A 4/3 or even a 5/4mm wetsuit will keep you toastie (we rate @oneilleurope @billabongwomens) and gloves, booties and a hood a must for very cold water. Pack a thick change layer (like a waterproof @dryrobe) if you're changing outside, and your fav toasty layers to warm you up.
✨Warmers: our fav flasks like @hydroflask stay warm for like, hours. Out on hike or heading to the sea? Prepare your fav tea (we dig warming spice mixes, ginger, tumeric and cinammon) ready for you during your adventure or post.
✨Hot water bottles have saved many a chattering surfer post winter surf. Prepare your warming snuggler and have it ready for your exit for the water.
✨Post-adventure nourishment is always key, nourish the body (and soul, duh) with hearty meals of seasonal veg soups, stews and Dhals with butternut squashes, beets, root veg and more all in season
✨yogis testify to the benefits of deep Ujjayi breathwork (so does @iceman_hof ) to build internal heat pre, during or post adventure. Try it out ❄️❄️
✨get changed as fast as you can out of wet layers and hit a warm shower or better, a bath, with some magnesium salts for recovery
Bam, got ya sorted ladies. Hit save! ❄️🍁❄️🍁❄️🍁
